At Beard Octane, we proudly ship to customers around the world. We want to make sure international customers understand how customs fees, taxes, and shipping responsibilities workĀ before placing an order.
What Charges Are Included In My Order?
When you place an order through Beard Octane, you are paying for:
- The products you purchase
- The shipping method selected at checkout
Your order total does not include:
- Customs duties
- Import taxes
- Value Added Tax (VAT)
- Goods and Services Tax (GST)
- Brokerage fees
- Carrier processing fees
- Any other fees charged by your country's government, customs authority, or delivery carrier
Does Beard Octane Collect VAT Or Customs Duties?
No.Ā Beard Octane does not collect customs duties, import taxes, VAT, GST, or similar government-imposed fees on most international orders.
If your country requires these fees, they will typically be collected by your customs authority or shipping carrier before your package is released for delivery.
What Are Brokerage Fees?
Some shipping carriers will pay customs charges on your behalf to help move your package through customs more quickly.
When this occurs, the carrier may charge an additional brokerage, advancement, processing, or convenience fee for handling that transaction. These fees are established entirely by the carrier and are not collected or controlled by Beard Octane.
Examples may include fees charged by carriers such as DHL, FedEx, UPS, Canada Post, Royal Mail, or local postal and courier services.
Why Am I Being Asked To Pay Additional Fees?
Many countries require imported goods to go through customs before they can be delivered. During this process, your country's customs agency may assess duties, taxes, VAT, GST, or other import-related fees.
These charges are determined by:
- Your country's laws and regulations
- The value of your shipment
- The type of products being imported
- The shipping carrier handling your package
Because these fees are set by governments and carriers, Beard Octane does not control them and cannot predict what they may be.Ā Beard Octane can also not tell your shipment carrier not to charge these fees, as this is NOT in our control.
Using Freight Forwarding & Package Consolidation Services
Some international customers choose to use third-party freight forwarding or package consolidation services when ordering from U.S. retailers.
These companies provide you with a U.S. shipping address where your order is delivered first. They may then offer services such as:
- Combining multiple orders into a single shipment
- Repackaging shipments to reduce shipping costs
- Forwarding packages internationally
- Providing additional shipping options that may not otherwise be available
Many customers find these services convenient when ordering from multiple U.S. businesses or when seeking alternative international shipping options.
Important Information About Freight Forwarders
Beard Octane does not own, operate, endorse, recommend, or have any affiliation with any freight forwarding or package consolidation company.
If you choose to use one of these services:
- You are responsible for selecting and working with the provider.
- Any fees charged by the forwarding company are your responsibility.
- Any customs duties, VAT, taxes, brokerage fees, or import charges remain your responsibility.
- Beard Octane cannot guarantee the handling, storage, repackaging, or forwarding practices of any third-party service.
Delivery To A Freight Forwarder
Once a package has been successfully delivered to the freight forwarding address provided on your order, Beard Octane's responsibility for the shipment is considered fulfilled.
Any issues that occur after delivery to the forwarding service, including but not limited to:
- Lost packages
- Damaged packages
- Missing items
- Repackaging errors
- Delayed forwarding
- Incorrect forwarding addresses
- Customs documentation issues created by the forwarding service
must be addressed directly with the freight forwarding company.
We strongly encourage customers to research any forwarding service carefully and review its policies regarding insurance, claims, package handling, and international shipping procedures before using it. Beard Octane can not work with your freight forwarding company and has no control over these services.
What Happens If I Refuse To Pay Customs Or Import Fees?
If customs duties, VAT, taxes, brokerage fees, or other import charges are required and are not paid, your package may be:
- Held by customs
- Returned to Beard Octane
- Abandoned or destroyed by the carrier or customs authority, depending on local regulations
Shipping charges are non-refundable once an order has been shipped.
Any refunds issued for returned international orders may be reduced by:
- Return shipping costs
- Carrier fees
- Customs processing fees
- Any charges assessed to Beard Octane by the carrier
Any future orders that you wish to place with Beard Octane after refusing an order will NOT be processed, due to the costs to Beard Octane involved in International order returns.
How Can I Find Out What My Fees Will Be?
Because import regulations vary by country and can change frequently, Beard Octane cannot estimate or quote customs duties, VAT, taxes, brokerage fees, or other import-related charges.
For the most accurate information, we recommend contacting:
- Your local customs office
- Your country's tax authority
- The shipping carrier handling your package
before placing your order.
Our Commitment To International Customers
We appreciate every customer who chooses Beard Octane, no matter where they live. While we are always happy to help answer shipping-related questions, customs duties, VAT, taxes, brokerage fees, freight forwarding charges, and other import costs are determined by governments, carriers, and third-party service providers and remain the responsibility of the recipient.
If you have questions about an international shipment, our support team will do our best to point you in the right direction.
