California Prop 65 & Supplements

California Prop 65 & Supplements

Why You May See a California Prop 65 Lead Warning on Supplements

If you live in California, you may notice a Prop 65 warning on many everyday products—including foods and supplements. We want to explain what that means, why it appears on our Beard Fuel – Beard Growth Support Supplement, and why it’s not something to panic about.

Lead Is Naturally Found in the Environment

Lead is a natural element found in the earth’s soil. Because plants grow in soil, very small amounts of lead can naturally be present in many plant-based ingredients. This is true for foods like spinach, sweet potatoes, rice, cocoa, and even drinking water in some areas.

When supplements use ingredients that come from plants, roots, fruits, or sea vegetables (kelp or algae), trace levels of naturally occurring lead can be present, even when the ingredients are carefully sourced and tested.

What Prop 65 Really Means

California’s Proposition 65 has one of the strictest labeling laws in the world. It requires a warning if a product contains any detectable amount of certain substances—even if the level is well below what is considered dangerous by the EPA or FDA.

This means:

  • The warning does not mean a product is unsafe

  • It does not mean lead was added

  • It does not mean the product failed quality testing

It simply means California requires a label when trace amounts may be present and California wants consumers to be well-informed about ingredients in products-- And we applaud that.

Supplements vs. Safety

Our Beard Fuel supplement is made for adult men and is produced following strict manufacturing and quality standards. Many grocery store foods, essential oils, and other supplements often carry the same warning—because nature itself isn’t 100% lead-free.

Why We’re Transparent

We believe in being upfront and honest with our customers. That’s why we follow all state and federal labeling rules—even when they can look scary at first glance.  Each batch of our supplements is lot-quality tested, and certified, in an FDA approved facility, with full documentation.

Transparency doesn’t mean danger. It means doing things the right way.

The Bottom Line

  • Lead exists naturally in soil

  • Plants absorb trace amounts as they grow

  • California requires warnings at extremely low levels

  • A Prop 65 label does not mean a product is unsafe

If you ever have questions about our ingredients or quality standards, we’re always happy to talk. Your trust matters to us—and so does your beard.
